Brecha digital de género (II)
Cuando hablamos de Tecnologías de la Información y Comunicación – TIC - nos referimos generalmente a los medios digitales que permiten adquirir, procesar, almacenar, distribuir y acceder a información.
Entre las más conocidas están las computadoras y los celulares.
Las TIC son instrumentos que facilitan el aprendizaje, el desarrollo de habilidades y distintas formas de aprender. Las TIC son medios y no fines. Estas no son en sí mismas soluciones a problemas, sino herramientas que pueden permitir alcanzar soluciones en temas de género y desarrollo.
La destreza en la manipulación de una aplicación informática, la habilidad en la utilización de internet son importantes. Sin embargo, es necesario que esas destrezas y habilidades se orienten a construir o gestionar conocimientos y a partir de ello generar saberes.
Cuando navegamos en internet lo que conseguimos son “datos”, los que en sí mismo no nos dicen nada. Una vez que procesamos estos “datos”, es decir, se organizan y clasifican, avanzamos a un nivel superior cuyo resultado es la “información”. La información permite tomar decisiones y reflexionar respecto a procesos y tendencias.
Pero la información por sí sola tampoco basta. Esa información necesita ser analizada e interpretada. Entonces lo que inicialmente fue un dato, luego información, se constituye en “conocimiento”.
Y por último, cuando ya tenemos el conocimiento y lo reflexionamos es cuando el mismo se traduce en saber.
Sin dudas todo un proceso, estos conceptos van más allá del de la brecha digital. No es solo el acceso a la tecnología y a la infraestructura lo importante para la mujer, el gran desafío es cómo usarla.
